Production Planner

Varex Imaging's technology helps our customers see more clearly. Our imaging component solutions are designed for use in high-speed, high-quality, wireless, and digital imaging systems around the world. Tens of thousands of specialized X-ray tubes and flat-panel digital detectors, plus high voltage connectors and imaging software, all developed by Varex, are manufactured each year for sale to imaging equipment manufacturers. Our highly specialized medical imaging solutions provide the technology behind the products relied upon for critical decisions every day.

We are searching for a Production Planner to support procurement activities in the Supply Chain group. In this position you will support production schedules by ensuring material is delivered in a timely manner to meet customer demand. You will participate in vendor selection, vendor management, negotiating pricing, while maintaining inventory levels. You will manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery.

• Provides support to production scheduling and communicates potential material issues that may impact customer orders.
• Experience in various commodities such as cables, electrical components, printed circuit boards, machine parts, plastic for medical device industry preferred
• Familiar with ERP/MRP and production or service environment, preferably SAP .
• Review and execute on purchase requisitions ensuring proper authorization and specifications.
• Manages inventory levels to within commodities to pre-established targets.
• Manages all ECO duties including, supplier communication, updating PO revisions, coordinating implementation dates, first article requirements and keep internal teams updated.
• Interfaces with operational staff on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments.
• Manages within supplier’s long-term agreements of qualified suppliers to reduce costs and improve quality and service.
• Owns the entire supplier process and continuously monitors supplier performance while maintaining excellent supplier relations.
• Works closely with the accounting team to maintain acceptable payment terms and resolves invoice disputes timely.
• Maintains an efficient process in dealing with supplier quality and product returns.
• Provides support and assistance to the receiving and incoming inspection group in timely problem resolution.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

• BS degree in Business or related field of study
• Prefer Certification in Inventory Management, APICS and/or Procurement, C.P.M.
• 5+ years’ experience as a buyer/planner preferably in the medical device or semiconductor industry
• Technical level expertise in principals of procurement in a medium volume production environment
• Technical level expertise in planning, negotiation and contracting for specification controlled and commodity products
• Proven track record of teamwork and cultivating strong vendor relationships
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience in SAP preferred.
• Working knowledge of MRP systems, including order management and planning tools
• Experienced in interpreting MRP demands to buy requirements.
• Working knowledge of ISO and Medical principles and practices
