Job Description

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician – Specialty Pharmacy

Location: San Francisco, CA

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Position Summary:

As a Pharmacy Technician in a growing segment of healthcare—specialty pharmacy—you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of specialized and complex therapies to patients. This position involves direct communication with patients, prescribers, and colleagues, as well as responsibilities related to prescription fulfillment, inventory, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with patients, prescribers, and healthcare team members via phone, email, and fax.
  • Process prescription orders and refills under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Fulfill prescriptions, package medications for shipment, process copays, and research financial assistance programs.
  • Manage inventory, ensure proper storage, and complete required documentation such as labels, logs, and reports.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed, based on staffing and business requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Active California State Pharmacy Technician License is required .
  • Certification: National certification (e.g., PTCB) is preferred but not required .
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year as a pharmacy technician. Experience in retail, specialty pharmacy, or mail order pharmacy is a plus.

Education: High school diploma or GED (required and must be verifiable).

Skills:

  • Basic computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
