One805 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting First Responders throughout Santa Barbara County. Born from disaster, we provide critical funding for equipment, mental wellness, and support services for police, fire, and sheriff departments. Our benefit events unite media, donors, and community leaders in support of those who protect us.
Role Overview:We’re seeking a skilled Communications Manager to lead media outreach, public relations, and marketing initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with experience managing press relations, negotiating media campaigns, and liaising with talent and industry professionals. You must be fast, precise, and responsive—especially during peak event periods.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute media and PR strategies
• Coordinate and negotiate TV, print, and digital advertising campaigns
• Serve as point of contact for press, talent representatives, and publicists
• Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across all platforms
• Manage time-sensitive communications deliverables
• Draft copy for press releases, social media, donor outreach, and programs
Requirements:
• 3+ years experience in communications, PR, marketing, or media relations
• Experience in news, journalism, or reporting is a strong plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Great attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
• Local to Santa Barbara and available for in-person meetings as needed
• Flexibility to work some weekends and extended hours during event windows
• Proactive and professional under pressure
