We are looking for a D-shift Electrical/Controls Technical Specialist to join Kaiser Aluminum Kalamazoo Operations in Kalamazoo, Michigan!

What you will be working on:

  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel by troubleshooting electrical and controls system issues.
  • Improve mean time between failures and reduce mean time to repair by applying lean concepts focusing on waste reduction and throughput.
  • Improve equipment related downtime.
  • Major responsibility for this position is, but not be limited to:
  • Functioning as a problem solver, applying theory and experience to develop process improvements and correctly identifying problems by submitting sound recommendations for long-term improvements of equipment and processes.
  • Leading and participating in process improvements with multi-discipline technical staff, maintenance and production.
  • Mentoring employees to increase their knowledge of equipment and process.
  • Working to eliminate waste through reliability improvements and monitoring processes, ensuring they are in control and meeting expectations.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis.

What you will bring to the position:

  • Minimum of an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution or 5+ years of experience in an Electrical technical role.
  • 1-3 years' experience with PLC's (Control Logix 5000), HMI's (Allen Bradley ME and SE), AC/DC drives & motors, low & medium power distribution.
  • Proficiency in Fanuc Robot programming.
  • 2 years' experience in leading, managing, and executing electrical projects.

  • Maintenance experience within an industrial environment.
  • Experience in Root Cause Problem Solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a low supervision environment while successfully meeting goals.
  • Hydraulic and or Combustion trouble shooting experience a plus.
