Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Cytotechnologist who will perform specialized and complex testing involving microscopic screening and evaluation of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens. The role includes providing interpretations to the Supervisory cytotechnologist and pathologists.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs thorough and accurate microscopic evaluation of cellular samples using recognized criteria to make cytological interpretations.
• Correlates findings with supervisory cytotechnologist and pathologists.
• Accurately records all appropriate specimen and results data.
• Performs fine needle aspirations to prepare biopsies and assess cellular adequacy.
• Assures individual specimen turnaround times are consistent with overall laboratory expectations.
• Assures cytological activities and equipment are used and maintained safely and in accordance with laboratory procedures.
• Employs established laboratory techniques to prepare quality slides from cytological samples.
• Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• ASCP Board Certification
• Experience with Thin-Prep Imaging System; Review Scope is a plus

Experience

• 0-2+ years related experience in a laboratory setting

Skills

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motion tasks such as microscopic screening.
• Proficient visual and audio skills
• Demonstrates initiative to proactively diagnose and resolve problems.
• Maintains accuracy and quality in all activities.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a related science

Additional Requirements

• Work conducted primarily in a laboratory setting
• Use of personal protective equipment may be necessary
• Possible exposure to chemicals, blood/body fluids
