🚀 Join Butzel Long’s Expanding Aerospace & Defense Practice

📍 Location: Michigan or Washington, D.C. | Full-Time | Hybrid

Butzel Long , a prestigious full-service law firm with more than 170 years of legal leadership , is growing its Aerospace & Defense (A&D) Practice . We are actively seeking:

• Partner-level attorneys with a portable book of business
• Associate-level attorneys to support our growing client base

With offices in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Oakland County, Lansing, New York, and Washington, D.C. , we serve clients involved in complex government and commercial contracting matters in the defense, space, and aerospace sectors.

💼 What You'll Do

• Advise clients on government and commercial contracts related to aerospace and defense.
• Draft bid protests, REAs, claims, and legal memoranda.
• Handle matters involving the FAR, DFARS, size protests, teaming agreements, subcontracting, supply chain, and data rights.
• Provide support on internal and government investigations, compliance, and training.
• Participate in litigation and transactional matters, including M&A, export controls, and CFIUS compliance.

✅ What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in federal government contracts (more experience a plus).
• Familiarity with U.S. export controls (OFAC, ITAR), FAR/DFARS , and agency supplements.
• Experience with bid protests , claims , compliance , and investigations .
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage client relationships.
• Admitted to practice in Michigan, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia (or eligible upon hire).
• Space law and security clearance experience is a plus.
• A portable book of business is preferred (partner-level).
